What am I doing?

Its 2am. And I am not asleep. I can’t sleep and I have dark eye circles under my eye. I think you might find me one day when I am rich and famous under the knives of a plastic surgeon. I donot think there is anything wrong with plastic surgery that is if you’re not exploiting it. You can use it to remove wrinkles when say you’re 20 something…but when you’re fifty I won’t do it.

lol….I am 20 something and I have wrinkles. What have I done to my eyes?

Why the biasness?

You know its funny, there are alot of causes people fight for in this world. Some about irrigation problems in Africa and some about fighting poverty, child abuse and what not.

And then you also have the Save the Caucasians from Terror attacks, or anti-terrorist groups and there are also Stop killing Tamils in Sri Lanka. And there are the more common Terrorist groups as well. We have far too many groups and categories to classify humans.

I have something to say and its not necessarily a negative thing if you think about it. Why do you say save a particular group of people? Aren’t all people the same in the eyes of God. In terms of a war, you have both civilians and non-civilians dying. You have unnecessary deaths from both groups.

So shouldn’t it just be : STOP THE KILLING.

And there is not need to specify who you want to save. It isn’t right to say save one group of people and not the others. Because you can’t and don’t have the rights to decide who should and shouldn’t die.

So as a humble request, I hope cause developers and group leaders as well as organisations(especially NGOs) please try to please everyone by being general. And by the way, I think there are so many NGOs out there who are doing an excellent job of helping people and being in the frontline in bad times and in good.

Prejudism

This post might be long and I need to try and be concise.

But basically, I was inspired to write this post because of what I have heard or seen the past few days, weeks and even months…YOU can say years too.

Its not exactly a funny topic to blog about and I am not going to come out here and say you’re bloogy racist or bloody religionist ( such words exist? I wouldn’t know and I wouldn’t care because I am not an english major and I care two hoots about whether I am grammaticaly right.) But I am here to say, it does exist. And it will continue to exist till the end of time. Am I politically correct? I try to be with what I know. If I am unsure of something, I am not going to sit and type that out.

Is it a problem? In some instances, it can be seen as one. But in other instances, you can make use of the situation. Personally, I hate the word prejudicism because it leads to people being dishonest. Now, dishonesty is a whole different issue and I am not here to talk about that.

The word is “prejudice,” and it means prejudgment–an opinion formed before (“pre”) you have any information or reason for the opinion.  (Taken from Wikianswers)

So basically you have an opinion based on well…absolutely ridiculous (in my opinion) ideals. So how can it lead to dishonesty? Have you heard of people who are gay not telling people they are one until their friends find out unexpectedly? Have you heard of people who are of mixed heritage concealing their actual racial composition because they feel they could be mocked for being aboriginal or native american for example?

But you also instil unncessary fear in people by being prejudiced. I have had a few people who have openly declared they are of lower caste, lower class etc etc etc even in this 21st century and therefore cannot sit and mingle with the likes of me.

Even within a race, there are subclasses and divisions. And I could say, even I am prejuidiced, as in I form my opinions when I meet some people. Like pompous arrogant bigots. Or male chauvinist pigs or even based on how someone is dressed. I don’t really like the hippies. And I am not terribly inclined to the artsy fartsies. (I am just saying…Donot accuse me of anything I have not personally sat down and talked to you about! Terimah Kasih!)

But I would still give the time of day, I would still talk to them because life without interesting and different people would not be quite right. Hell, yes I form opinions in my head which I would never ever let you know, but I won’t say I am never ever going to be your friend.

I would prefer making friends within my own social circles because I donot need to explain myself when I undersplurge and being too stingy with my purse strings or I donot need to explain myself when I buy myself a pair of prada heels ( Note: I don’t own one and neither am I stingy with my purse strings. I am writing what I see people do.)

When you talk about skin colour, OH MY Goodness! There are the blacks. There are the coloureds and the asians. Some people donot consider the indians as asians, some people do. There are the latinos. The phillipinos.  The Minahs and the Ah bengs and ofcourse the Anjacks.

THEN

Ofcourse, you also have segregation with the whitan clan. There is the blue eyed people, the green eyed ones, the brown eyes and even the grey eyed ones. And since I am a fan of D/G fics, include in the silver eyed ones. (THEY ARE NOT GREY!) And that is just the eyes, there is the hair too. The brown hair, black hair and ofcourse you have the red hair people as well. And do I need to mention the Blondes?

So when you meet people each class or group of people are famous for a few things. Things which could either be pleasant or unpleasant.

There are shops catered to individual groups of people. Its called marketing strategy, based on assumptions that a certain group of people will visit a particular place and selling things they will probably buy. Is it wrong? I don’t think so. I am only seeking to earn profits after a hard day at work. That is all I am looking forward to.

But after saying all these, let me tell you a place prejudism does not and should never exist. The Hospital. all things can go wrong if you’re being prejudiced there. Would you be prejudiced when you need an organ donation? Will you say you donot want blood from such a such a tribe? If you did, you donot value life. If you did, you are an IDIOT.

So what is it that I want to say about Prejudism?

1) It exists.

2) You can use it if you’re a buisnessman/woman.

3) Though it is silly to be uptight over who you mix with.

It is silly to be uptight over who you mix with. And perhaps working with diseases and in labs trying to find a cure for a disease that has no cure what so ever has thought me that or perhaps because I know what it feels like to not be part of the majority. If you’re going to die, if you’re in a position where you’re life might end anytime soon, do you think I would be sleeping on my hospital bed saying I donot like the colour of a person’s hair, or their skin? When you die, you won’t have your skin with you, you won’t have your hair colour with you, hell, you won’t be able to carry your set of eyes to the next the world.

If you can, can someone please let me know? I would put myself under the knife, I would.

ps: Actually this post is pretty normal, it wasn’t meant to be that way. It was worse when I started typing and I had no clue where I was heading to.

Pretty dramatic

Currently, I am obsessed with the Jap Drama, Oh! My Girl!! I watch them without and with subtitles. Am I crazy or nuts for watching a 45min show without subtitles, I guess YES! But its only because I love it. Its about a guy who works for a magazine company being suddenly forced to look after his 6 year old niece. The star of the show is good looking and tall, but that is not the whole reason why I watch this show. I watch it because it is funny, emotional and has a family centered message to pass to the viewers. Family dramas can go terribly wrong when they get too emtional, making each episode unbelieveable. But with this drama, that is not the case. It is not oversenstive and has the right doses of everything.  It reflects the journey of a guy who is suddenly made to adorn a father role to look after a spoilt 6 yr old who is actually an actress and learns the values and qualities needed for a family and deals with how the two of them have to forgo their selfishness to live together under one roof. Some sacrfices has to be made.

There is not much romance yet, in this drama and there are already 6 episodes. Approximately 5 more episodes to go and so you can say this drama is soley based on the interactions of a family.

PS: I also watch others. This is just my current favourite.

Missing in Action?

My plans on using my blog to earn money is officially over, due to many many reasons. But mainly because I AM LAZY and the offers aren’t as nice as the blog advertisers back home.

But that is not why I haven’t been on this blog, I haven’t on because I had an Exam. Note: Use of an. It was only one Paper but I was freaking out like I had 10 papers to sit for. But anyhow, its over now. I think my sleeping clock is all over the place because of this one paper. Trust me, try sleeping at 4-5 am everyday and waking up before noon and studying. That is not so bad, really. BUT the day before my exam or rather on the day of my exam, I barely had 2hrs of sleep and I was hoping my cadbury bar of chocolate will miraculously keep me wide awake. It did, keep me awake but only for the exam, probably because of the rush of adrenalin too. But by 2.30pm that day, my exam ended at 12 noon, I passed out and lost all touch with the world.

That is until I was awoken by a very hungry and grumpy tummy.

So here we go. Shall blog more when I am more awake and not having a throbbing headache!:)

Do I really hate Shakespeare?

I hate Shakespeare. Throw me a Shakespeare quote and I’ll kill you. Though I respect his insanely genius mind in “Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex” or even his tragedy “Othello” . Only someone who is so comfortable with writing could have created those pieces and many more. But even that piece isn’t enough for me to love him.

And I thought about it.

Why do I hate Shakespeare?

Apart from the blatant obvious, I was forced to read them for literature classes at some stage in my life (2yrs in Sec school and ¾ a year for matriculation year). I don’t really have any other substantial reasons to hate him. I love reading, I can express myself well but when you put in a position where I have to read a book analyse it in and out and regurgitate it out on paper under an exam setting, I am running miles away from that book.

But I didn’t hate the other books I had to read. Like Endless Steppe, a Anne Frank kind of book that talked about war. I loved literature classes when I had to read that book. But Shakespeare made me mad!

Why?

I think it was because, he made love sound so mysterious and cool and hip and lovely when in actual fact it isn’t so. Who falls in love at first sight? And marries within a week? That was the main reason why I hated him. He makes love sound so simple when it isn’t. Will you die for love? Like Hell, I will NOT. You see, he’s way of thinking isn’t anything like mine.

Love according to science and rationale is a hormonal control thing based on the secretion of some proteins.

Before you think, I have gone insane and need to admit myself into a mental institute, No I don’t think the science rationale is the whole absolute truth, (though it is true technically).

I loved Animal Farm, but I think the reason why I loved it was because I was Molly the horse for a school play, I can only remember the book well until Molly dies, the rest is a blur to me.

Or the reason why I hate Shakespeare is because of his English. Beautifully written when you just have to read it for pleasure or watch in a play but when you need to study it, its painful because its so complex.

But even though I hate Shakespeare, he’s bloody clever. I have to admit that. If he lived now, he might have portrayed the story more to our context. (Did people really marry that fast back then?) Ingenious plots really truly ingenious, but I won’t touch his book now because 1) I don’t have to, 2) I don’t want to. Give me Hollywood movies based on his books instead. You know how some books are better reads than a movie? This guy’s books make far better movies than actual books for reading, well atleast for me.

His poems are even worse….

What in the world is he talking about? How can a flower be described it so many verses? A flower is a flower. Colourful, yes. Pretty yes. But that is all there is to a flower and yet he goes on and on and on and on………

At the end of my redundant rant about hating Shakespeare and yet finding him a genius, I must conclude, I think I only hate Shakespeare because of his writing style. It just is too much. BUT HE IS A GENIUS

PS: I have wasted about 30min typing this because my mind refused to take in anymore of DNA transcription.

The dangers of the internet

This just got my cousin and I cracking.

You see, we both have friendster and facebook accounts. We have friendster for years while we acquired the facebook accounts fairly recently.

So I can’t say I know everything about facebook.

So when I started using the email finder tool, there was a whole list of names and people who came up.

One of which belonged to my uncle!

SHOCK!

He’s had it since 2007! Which came as a huge huge suprise to us.

Because we only joined this year and our relatively unhip and uncool relative had an account for almost a year!!!

When we confronted him however, he acted ignorance and claimed he knows nothing about facebook!

I am aware of some of my friends’ parents having facebook accounts, so it wasn’t exactly a shock but it was a very amusing suprise to me!

Obviously, we know its definitely him. Because that email was created by myself.

But fancy adding your Dad figure on facebook!

Ah…but he wasn’t the only one I saw on facebook. There were a couple of other questionable additions to your friend list like my Professors and ex-Supervisors. Its quite common for people to add them as friends but I find it very weird since they’re not exactly my friend. Oh well…..

But what did I learn from this?

You have to be careful with the WWW. Because it seems like everyone knows everyone in this world. While I don’t mind people knowing me and adding me on facebook(if you know me…), but I think this could be used as a tool for disaster if wrongly used though for now, facebook is quite private.

ASAP

Hmm,

This site is going to have some major changes. Not to worry, my enteries will still be here. Alot of my enteries from 2007 will be cut down since erm…I don’t think I had that many posts up then, but a few will stay.

Before your mind starts wandering on all the crazy reasons you can some up with, the reason why I am doing this is because I have become money crazy and hope certain enteries would earn me cash. For that to happen however, I think I need to make a few changes.

I might consult someone on how I go about this but I have essentially made up my mind.

For the 2-3 people who have been sticking by this site, please continue to shower me your support. And to the random people who chance upon this site, thanks too.

Fine, I am too quick to judge

Let’s wait for one year before I say anything about how American Politics affects the world again.

Peace out!
